“Retros”, in Privateer/RF, are a luddite-like religion who believe in the erradication of all technologies by any means necessary, including flying ship armed to attack non-Retro ships.
In WC fandom, the term “Retros” was coined by yours truly (chuck_starchaser/monkhouse) to refer to fanatical, close-minded fans at the crius.net forums who insisted that no deviation from established WC canon could be tolerated in a fan project. For example, if Draymans had no turrets in the original games, no turrets should ever be mounted on them, under any circumstances. The coining of the use of the name “Retros” earned this writer a ban from crius.net, which he wears proudly as a badge of honor…
