The secretive Black Lance organization apparently had access to technological research beyond even the reach of the Terran Confederation's own military appropriations. At a time when Confed efforts in stealth technology had only achieved partial cloaks, Black Lance's Dragon fighter featured a cloaking device every bit as good as the ones used by kilrathi Strakhas. Besides cloaking technology, the Dragon's engines were a miniature version of the more efficient type of engines used by capital ships. This higher engine efficiency translated into more power being delivered to weapons and/or afterburners.

In 2673, Blair exposed the Black Lance conspiracy, bringing its operations to an end. Since the demise of Black Lance, the Dragon has never been heard of again.
