The Kilrathi war is over. Turbulent times engulf the Confederation and its varied alliances with other organizations, as without the war to unite them, varied interests present themselves. Recent terrorist actions against Confederation ships and installations have been reported, the Union of Border Worlds being charged. A retired Christopher Blair, now a farmer on a backwater planet, is recalled into action to investigate the reports of attacks by Border Worlds forces. He soon finds himself involved in something much deeper than mere terrorist attacks. Led to question everything he used to fight for, he finds himself in the middle of loyalty shifts, political games, and secret plots perpetrated by those he thought were his allies.
