• Beto's Foodcorp Unlimited
  • Bronte Corporation
Hypothetical inferences:
Controlled by Lynch; headquartered in New Detroit, but probably a
multi-world corporation. Lynch loses control of it to Menesch, in
Righteous Fire, when Retros lay siege to New Detroit.
Lynch subsequently flees to a hideout at a mine.
During the siege of Palan and Rondell, the official story, which
Lynn Murphy seems to swallow, was that Bronte was acting against
Rondell over an "exports" dispute. This is highly unlikely, that a
food company would hire hundreds of mercenaries over peanuts. And
highly suspect as well, that it would happen at the time Sandoval
left Rondell to steal half a Steltek map from some party in NewDet.
And it is heavily hinted that the one who murdered Sandoval was in
fact Regis; --Lynch's cousin. Seems only logical that Lynch was
paying for the mercenaries; using Bronte as a fronte.
  • Rondell Corporation (HQ in Palan; probably controlled by Lang)
Hypothetical inferences:
Originally controlled by possibly by Damien Lang, later by Menesch.
Rondell Kidnapped Dr. Monkhouse, prior to the start of Privateer,
perhaps as early as late 2668. They spread stories that they were
sponsoring a dig on Palan, but Monkhouse clearly says he was NOT
working on any digs in Palan, but had been kidnapped, kept in a
cell, and interrogated. Monkhouse also mentions Sandoval, saying
that he "held that artifact dearer than his own life", which implies
that Monkhouse had met Sandoval, probably in Palan, which implies
that Sandoval was probably one of his interrogators, which in turn
implies that he was with Rondell. The fact that police plaster your
face all over town in connection to Sandoval's murder would seem to
imply that he was someone important; possibly the CEO of Rondell.
This ties in well for Lynch's motivations to lay siege to Palan. If
Sandoval came to NewDet to steal half a map for Rondell, it would
imply that Rondell had the other half; and that's probably what
Lynch wanted.
