Flash Pack was introduced in 2673 by the Black-Lance. Carried by a Dragon fighter, the Flash Pack munition was a small disc that was targeted and launched like a missile.

Once fired, the Flash Pack munition would home in on its target and attach itself to its hull.

Latched onto the vessel, Flash Pack would then ignite…

…frying the ship from the inside out, destroying everything and everyone inside.

After the exposure of the secret Black-Lance organization to the Confed by Christopher Blair, Flash-Pak-resistent armor technology was developed, and most ships in the Confederation fleet were retrofitted with it, rendering Flash Pack obsolete.

The weapon created such a horrible game imbalance (allowing a puny, 50 million credit fighter to take out a 70 billion credit carrier of one shot) that Origin was forced to neutralize this weapon by having all capital ships in the Confederation being upgraded with “flash-pack-proof armor”. A fiasco from a game design perspective… A bad idea that shouldn't have got through in the first place.
